Choroní Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Venezuela -located in Puerto Colombia, Choroni. Its proper name in Spanish is Playa Grande. Because of its proximity to the colonial village of Choroní, it is often referred to as Choroní Beach.
About 50 kilometers (32 miles) from Maracay. The ride from the city of Maracay takes about 2 hours on a road built by the Venezuelan dictator Juan Vicente Gómez in 1920, a narrow windy dirt road over the cloud forest mountains of the Henri Pittier National Park before descending to the sea. From 1970 work began to pave the road, and was completed in 1990 - its a real great tour on its own..
